WebCyproheptadine (also called Periactin®) is an antihistamine medicine. It is used to stimulate the appetite and promote weight gain. It is also used to relieve symptoms of seasonal allergies, such as, skin rash, itchy or watery eyes, and runny nose. It is available as a white 4 mg tablet and as a yellow liquid to be taken by mouth. WebCyproheptadine is a histamine and serotonin antagonist that has been reported to improve nightmares in several case reports with a dosing range from 4 to 24 mg per day [49,50,85]. One placebo-controlled trial (PCT) with 69 participants demonstrated no improvement in nightmare symptoms after two weeks [ 86 ].
