(SAVE & SHARE!)5 Thing To Know Before Visiting Cape Town? I GOT YOU!!! As a US citizen, if your stay does not exceed 90 days, no visa will be necessary. However, you should ensure that your passport is valid for at least 30 days prior to its expiration. While there are over 11 national languages in Cape Town, English is widely spoken across all communities. If You speak English, you dont need to worry about language barriers. Capetown is rich in biodiversity - from mountains to beaches, this is one of the most beautiful cities Ive ever visited. The summertime weather and views remind me a lot of California, and we all know thats my favorite US state. From surfing to hiking, there are plenty of ways for you to immerse yourself in the citys natural wonders. Its so pretty and I wake up feeling grateful to be here every day. Summer time is December - Mid March, Fall is March - May, Winter is June - August, and Spring is September- November. Highly recommend visiting during summer(now), the energy is AMAZING with lots of markets, events, fests, etc.! The weather this time of year is sunny during the daytime yet quite windy at night. Bring a sweater for evenings! It may not be blazing(coming from a Houstonian and Texan), but the sun is strong so pack and apply your sunscreen - yes, even you, my fellow melanated queens.Leave Camps Bay, the V&A Water Front, etc. ! From the Cape Malay to the Xhosa people, Cape Town is so rich in history and culture. There are ways to ethically and safely visit nearby townships(with guidance) along with areas like Bo-Kaap. Support the shops, restaurants, etc. As a Xhosan friend said, they deserve to benefit from tourism too!As a bonus,I dont usually suffer from jet-lag but it took about 10 days for me to get more than 3-5 hours of sleep a night. I was STRUGGLING! Download an app called Time Shifter to better adjust to time zone differences worldwide.Oh & we will discuss both load-shedding and safety in some upcoming posts! Id love to hear if Cape Town has ever been on your radar? Do you know much about it at all? If you know about the city, did you know these things?
