Even though he would leave, these would become staple sights in these parts. The Chinese fishing nets, or Cheenvala for the locals, have attracted visitors in the Fort Kochi area for centuries. Most tour guides swear that the Vasco da Gama Square is the best spot to get the perfect view of these massive structures.Jew community in Kerala. It's believed that the Jew community migrated to Kerala back in 68 CE. Whilst many of the Jew community left for Israel, the promised land,when it was established, some chose to stay back in Kerala. And they can be seen in the Jew Town in Ernakulam,where the vibrant ways of the community can be experienced.Saint Francis Church, in Fort Kochi (Fort Cochin), Kochi, originally built in 1503, is one of the oldest European churches in India.Vasco da Gama died in his third visit to India in the city of Cochin on Christmas Eve in 1524.His body was originally buried in this church, but after fourteen years his remains were moved to Lisbon.The Church was declared a protected monument in April 1923 under the Protected Monuments Act of 1904.The gravestone of Vasco da Gama can still be seen here. It is on the ground at the southern side.Dutch demolished all the churches except this one.House owner Mr. Santhosh and his family living here.Presently this house as VASCO HOMESTAY.
